Why buy in Turkey's Black Sea region?

Here's a few reasons why you should seriously consider buying property in the Black Sea region:

  • this area is still undeveloped in comparison to the hotter southern Mediterranean and Aegean Turkish coasts and boasts milder winters
  • it offers plenty of dramatic scenery, interesting local dishes and many historical sites. In fact, it's famous for being the coast where Jason and his Argonauts looked for the Golden Fleece.

The area is also known for its dearth of cherry orchards, hazelnut, tea and tobacco crops

  • possible future membership of the EU and new legal reforms are set to make investment in Turkey easier. This will in turn give more incentives to property buyers and make future property selling an easier process
  • the cost of living in Turkey is still fairly reasonable. Expats can look forward to living here comfortably and visitors on a tight budget are well catered to and
  • Turkey is easily accessible in that it hosts flights to and from most UK airports. Whilst recent years have seen direct flight services not available to local airports during winter months - this is allayed by the fact that there are plans to offer year round direct flights from 2007/8.

Note that easy-jet now offers flights to Istanbul from prices as low as £30.

So take a look at the Black Sea region. Towns like Trabzon (Trebizond), Sinop, Amasra, Safranbolu, Ordu and Giresun are worth visiting and give you a good feel for what the Black Sea is all about. Good luck!
