If you're planning to get to Cannes this May for the Film Festival or later this year, take a look this tourism in Cannes website where you can find out about:
Aside from the palatial hotels, high end boutiques and restaurants, Cannes offers plenty of good beach life plus great shopping. There are some lovely old parts to the town. Le Vieux Port and adjacent Le Suquet districts (the old port and the hill) offer a wonderful step back into time with their distinguished buildings, winding streets and lovely squares.
Like other resorts on the Côte d'Azur coast, Cannes first gained popularity in the 19th century when several of London's high society decided to build here, attracted by the pleasant year round climate and scenery. Whilst the city is synonymous with the Film Festival, it's growing in importance as a major centre for other festivals and business conferences and congresses.
