Moroccan property investments

Morocco is a hot travel destination right now. Not only is it opening up to tourists but it offers plenty of property investment opportunities too.

So why buy in Morocco?

  • 4-5 hours' flight away. It's also a short ferry trip from Gibraltar and Spain. Morocco is close plus it has a magnetic exotic appeal with its mix of Islamic traditions and colonial past.
  • tax exemptions introduced by the Moroccan government are available for a few years on certain taxes and important reductions in others offer a very favourable investment climate. Plus a double tax agreement exists between the UK and Morocco - so you only pay tax once
  • Morocco is aiming for annual tourist figures of 10 milllion by 2010. This target underpins the national project called 'Vision 2010'
  • an 'open skies' policy has been agreed with Morocco - involving Moroccan airport improvements and allowing more budget airlines to operate from the UK and Ireland.
  • Flight increases means reductions in flight costs and resulting growth in Morrocan property prices in areas accessible by cheap and regular flights from Europe and
  • building of a 'sea tunnel' between Spain and Morocco. If implemented this would open up another traffic route at around 2025.
