Community transport goes online
People unable to use ordinary buses and trains may find it easier to get access to community transport thanks to an electronic information service. The project, a2binfo, gives round-the-clock information on local door-to-door services run with minibuses, group hire and shared cars. The service, which has been running for two years, was relaunched last month in a more accessible version. The service was developed by a private firm, NVisage, with Lincolnshire rural community council. It is offered by nine local authorities and transport partnerships, with three more due to sign up before the year end.
