Nvisage sustainability policy

Whilst NVisage has always made various small scale efforts to improve our impact upon the environment, we feel it is now the time as we expand, to address our impact upon our surroundings more fully.

We intend expanding the schemes we can implement immediately such as converting to fair-trade purchasing and buying re-cycled materials. We are also undertaking a review of the best way of mitigating our other impacts that day to day business incurs. This will be a combination of:

1. reducing consumption
2. minimising the impact of necessary consumption
3. looking at ways we can offset our necessary consumption.

The review will take a time to achieve because we do not just want to plant trees to offset our carbon footprint and forget about it. We want to look at organisations that are pro-actively helping communities better their own lives in a sustainable manner and support them.

Currently undertaking:

• Paper recycling in the office
• All of our web servers are carbon neutral
• Green Transport policy
  1. business transport to be public sector wherever possible
  2. we have a company sponsored "cycle to work policy" with company sponsored cycle purchase scheme

This results in 80% of staff journeys to work being made by cycle or foot

Transitional processes:

We understand that every aspect of our business processes needs to be addressed and that this is not an issue to be addressed lightly. We are therefore undertaking an audit process involving all members of staff to determine how we can reduce our environmental impact. Specifically we are:

• Auditing our energy use creating a 5 year plan for:
  • fully off-setting our carbon footprint in the office
  • off-setting all carbon incurred as a result of business journeys
• Applying ethical purchasing processes wherever possible such as
  • Purchasing fair trade products as applicable
  • Purchasing recycled materials where possible
• Creating a sustainable disposals policy for recycling of our office equipment
• Creating a policy of trading fairly and ethically within our business and between all of our suppliers and clients
