French Resale property or new build property :

There are a few questions you need to ask yourself before buying a resale or new build property.

Here are few points to be aware of when choosing to buy residential accommodation in France.

Resale property:

  • You will only have to wait between 12 and 16 weeks from sale agreed to completion.
  • The notaire will take approximately 7 per cent of the cost of the purchase and the agent will charge between 6 and 8 per cent.
  • A 19.6 per cent VAT fee is not included in the price of the resale property.
  • You will need to pay a 10 per cent deposit.

New build property

  • You are charged notaire's fees which are normally set at 3 per cent.
  • You pay a 5 percent deposit initially and
  • A 19.6 per cent VAT fee is included in the price of the French new build property.
