AdWords is an advertising service by Google for businesses wanting to display ads on Google and its advertising network.
There are three networks out there that promote your business in different ways:
- Search network
This network used for reaching specific groups of people who are actively searching for a product or service. Ad extensions can be added.
- Display network
This network is very effective because you can use a variety of formats on a wide variety of sites. Unlike the search network, the display network displays your ads on websites (placements), blog posts (topics), YouTube, Gmail, Blogger, Gmail, Finance and apps.
- Search with display select network
This network is the two campaigns above merged. The budget is shared across both networks. This is very useful for new businesses because you can reach people who are searching for your product/service through the search network or on a website selling a similar service.
How does it work?
The main part of creating a successful ad is to have a high quality score. This is reported in your account, it is an estimate of the quality of your ads. These are the components that affect the quality score:
- Relevant keywords
- Landing page
- Expected click through rate (CTR)
By creating ads they enhance not just the CTR to your website which possibly turn into conversions, it increases your brand awareness (impressions). As a result of increased brand awareness users will search for your company which then contributes to your organic page’s position in the search results.
